Caring for Damaged Skin

Bad skin can be attributed to a variety of things, those being genetic inheritance, bad weather, or simply poor hygiene. In some cases, it may just be improper hygiene. If poor hygiene stems from a lack of hygiene, then improper hygiene results from improper care. Not everyone is created equal, least of all in their skin. Knowing and being comfortable in one's own skin can lead to lifelong rewards.

Chronic acne can be a manageable life solution. The catalyst is dry skin, and for those who suffer from acne usually suffer from skin that is either too dry or not dry enough. This can be prevented by not overdoing the routines of daily hygiene. As a tip, splash the face with cold water before washing with warm water; and after washing, splash with cold water once more. This will ensure that the sensitive pores will be closed during agitated rinsing, thus minimizing the affects of sensitive skin. If washed too roughly or frequently, dry skin will chap and flake. The loose skin particles will cause even more breakouts than from bacteria and dirt alone.

Remnants of chronic acne appear in the form of unsightly scars and, in the long run, keloids. Keloids are lumps of damaged or dead tissue that resemble cysts. Typically inactive, keloids sometimes spread and persist on their own, even without the presence of acne. There is no sure topical solution in the removal of keloids. For that, oral treatment is necessary. The recently approved Accutane helps to lessen the appearance of keloids; though it works indirectly by minimizing the sebaceous glands that irritate the skin. For direct treatment of keloids and cysts, an injection of cortisone is the most common answer. Cortisone triggers a reaction in the immune system that helps the body fight inflammatory ailments. Once injected, its affects can take as long as a few days to fully work. The lumps may still persist, but injections help to soften them, thus making it easier to gradually heal.

Chemical peeling is invaluable in the treatment of acne scars. Scarring typically affects the outer epidermis, and peeling it away to reveal the newer, untouched skin is aesthetically affective. But peeling should only be done after the acne has subsided and little keloids remain. Peeling will expose new, sensitive skin, thereby increasing the potential for infection; any presence of acne will no doubt raise that risk.

In the long term, lotions and body oils will lead to unbalanced skin if used improperly, especially excessively. They supply the body with more oils, and excessive body moisture is a common cause for acne and other topical conditions. Know your body before investing in expensive topical solutions. For those suffering from chronic acne and keloids, recent research indicates that the oil extracted from the emu bird contains nutritional properties that aid the skin in healing, as opposed to simply eliminating germs and excess oil.

5 Reasons Why You Should Use A Classified Ad Submission Service To Submit Your Classified Ads

If you're submitting each of your classified ads by hand, you're wasting valuable time and essentially money.

Instead, you should you should consider using a classified ad submission service to submit your ads.
Doing so offers many benefits, from streamlining the process to a greater chance of ad approval.
Here, we'll look over the top 5 reasons why you should use a classified ad submission service.

1. Using A Classified Ad Submission Service Saves You Time!

Classified ads are one of the most effective ways to drive traffic and generate sales.
As opposed to traditional web adverts, visitors who search through classified ads are already
in the buying mentality, meaning they are more likely to purchase something than people just surfing for information.

When They Rotate Off The Advertising Boards

There are several pitfalls many people face when submitting classified ads by hand, one of which is the run-length.

Depending on the service, most classified ads expire after a 30-day period. Once that period it up, you have to manually renew or create a new ad. For some, this might not be a problem, but when you're forced to manually renew hundreds of ads every so often, it can become a serious time-consuming issue. A legitimate classified ad submission service will handle
all the renewing necessary to keep your ads running as long as you want.
If you no longer want them to run, you can have the service hold of on that as well.

You can you achieve this by generating tons of backlinks on high-traffic classified ad websites. These backlinks will not only generate traffic from shoppers clicking the link, but your website will naturally rank higher in the search engines, allowing you to see more visitors overall.

4. Classified Ad Submissions Get Your Ad In Front Of Prospects Who Are In A Buying Mentality

No matter what type of product or service your website offers, you need traffic in order to be successfull.

There are dozens of way to get traffic to your website, but you'll find most are either too expensive or junk traffic.

Ever see those advertisements from traffic brokers offering 5,000 visitors for $19.99?
Most of these places slam you with low-quality traffic might not even be a real human visitor.
This is why nearly 90% of customers who purchase this type of bulk traffic don't return for another purchase.

5. A Classified Ad Submission Service Is A High-Quality Low-Cost Alternative To Pay Per Click Advertising

Many new advertisers try their luck with Google Adwords. Their pay-per-click (PPC) program is one of the oldest and best in the industry, serving millions of advertisers worldwide. But while their traffic is high-quality, it's oftentimes too expensive unless you you're a company with deep pockets. Depending on the keyword(s) and position you're targeting, you could see prices as much as $2 or $3 per click. Rack up a couple hundred clicks a day and that's one pricey advertising bill.

A classified ad submission service offers high-quality traffic at a low cost. If you're currently spending hundred per month on Adwords or other advertising programs, think of the money you'll save by switching to classified ads.

Review: Are you drinking the right water?

Drinking the right kind of water is one of your best natural protections against all kinds of diseases. If the body’s cells become dehydrated, they shrivel up, making it easy for viruses and diseases to attack.

Water is a vital component of all bodily fluids, tissues, cells, lymph, blood and hormones and the mucous membranes need plenty of water to keep them soft and free from friction on their delicate surfaces.

Drinking the right kind of water is one of your best natural protections against all kinds of diseases. If the body’s cells become dehydrated, they shrivel up, making it easy for viruses and diseases to attack, often leading to disease and an untimely and premature death.

Experts also suggest that juice cleansing (or “juice fasting”)—consuming nothing but juice for a three- to five-day period–can be a fantastic way to jump-start a weight-loss regimen, detoxify your body, and instill healthier eating habits. And after the cleansing, adding juice to your regular diet can be vital in maintaining your purified digestive system. Here are some delicious, healthy recipes for both cleansing and maintenance:

CLEAN IT OUT

(Note: It is highly recommended that you follow an established juice cleansing schedule, which will include specific pre- and post-cleansing dietary guidelines.)

(For each recipe, combine ingredients in a juicer or blender, then mix for 45-60 seconds. Yield is one tall glass.)

Going Green (breakfast):

5 spinach leaves, chopped

3 kale leaves (remove stems), chopped

½ cucumber

1 cup romaine lettuce

2 sticks celery

1 apple (remove seeds), halved

What Is Boron?

In its pure form, boron is a black, crystalline structure that is extremely brittle. It is an important mineral in human nutrition, but there is perhaps only one country in the world where the people in general get adequate amounts of boron from the food they eat; that being Israel, which could explain why Israel has less that 1% incidence of arthritis.

Boron supports the body’s use of various other vitamins and minerals. Boron is essential for maintaining correct levels of Calcium, Magnesium and Phosphorus in the body and is therefore one of the main minerals used in forming strong bones, building muscle and improving brain and thyroid functions.

Second only to Magnesium, the body depends upon Boron for performing almost all of its functions. Boron is part of a long chain that intertwines all the minerals necessary for cell growth and development. It is essential for the integrity and function of cell walls and for transmitting signals across cell membranes. Without Boron there would be no plants or animals and even a shortage of boron can shorten the natural life-span of every living thing on earth.

Like all other minerals, Boron must be in the right isoform in order for it to be of any great value to the human system. One isoform of iron is nails and another is that form found in spinach. Which do you suppose will make for healthy red blood cells?

I have used other Boron supplements, but none that compare with FreeMart DCal Boron. Part of that is due to the isoform of Boron that we use, together with the advanced

LightEnhanced(trademark) quantum technology used to create it. The most expensive product is the one that doesn’t work, so don’t leave the following benefits sitting on the table by choosing and inferior product.

Health Benefits of Boron

Supplementing with Boron increases testosterone levels in men and estrogen levels in menopausal women. Boron affects the metabolism of steroid hormones, and especially the sex hormones which may improve sex drive in men and women.

Boron also has an important role in converting vitamin D to its active form, thus increasing the Calcium uptake and deposition into the bones and teeth and preventing soft tissues from calcifying. Other beneficial effects have been reported such as improvement of vision, psoriasis, scleroderma and balance.

Traditionally Boron has been used treating osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and a variety of brain conditions, improving cognitive skills, visual perception, concentration, short term memory, coordination, fine motor skills and logic.

Boron has also been used in cardiovascular treatments resulting in improvements in heart disease. This mineral works as a powerful enzyme inhibitor as well as promotes cardiovascular function, reducing cholesterol levels.

Boron initiates estrogen by helping convert vitamin D into its active state. The estrogen then improves absorption of Calcium and metabolism within the bone. When bone metabolism is properly functioning, osteoporosis is no longer a major health issue. And even after osteoporosis has set in, Boron can play a major role in helping the body to replace lost Calcium.

Boron is necessary for creating and repairing joint cartilage. It is also assists in preventing arthritis and tooth decay.

Boron is essential for copper metabolism and therefore could play a role in the correction of hyperthyroidism and possibly hypothyroidism. Additionally Boron increases plasma copper, copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (SOD); one of the body’s most important free radical scavengers, and ceruloplasmin (a protein which transports Copper throughout the body).

Too much estrogen tends to slow down thyroid function and reduce plasma copper, SOD, and ceruloplasmin. Studies on Boron showed that by increasing Boron levels, each of these variables also increased whether estrogen was administered or not.

Boron in the stomach reacts with hydrochloric acid to form Boric acid, which is then rapidly excreted in the urine, thereby reducing acid and possibly relieving various acidic conditions.
Boron also functions to fight off fungal infections and other pathogens, playing a major role in the control of Candida in the body.

Chemical fertilizers inhibit the uptake of Boron from the soil by up to 90%. An organic apple grown in good soil may have 20 mg Boron, but if grown in the same soil with fertilizer it may have only 1 mg of Boron and since most developed countries use chemical fertilizers, the average intake of Boron is less than 1-2 mg of Boron per day.

This creates numerous health problems that could easily be avoided, which doctors are either oblivious to, or do not bother to tell their patients about it.

BORON DEFICIENCY SYMPTOMS
Boron is such an important mineral that a deficiency of boron in human nutrition may result in many painful and even debilitating disease symptoms.

The highest concentration of Boron is found in the parathyroid glands, the bones, joints and dental enamel. Boron deficiency causes greatly increased amounts of Calcium and Magnesium to be lost in the urine.

Boron deficiency can cause cell walls to become very weak and fragile, rendering the cells incapable of properly transferring and receiving nutrients into them.

Boron is to the parathyroid what Iodine is to the thyroid and a deficiency of Boron causes the parathyroid to release too much parathyroid hormone, removing Calcium from the bones, joints and teeth and releasing it into the blood stream. This leads to calcification of soft tissues causing muscle contractions and stiffness throughout the body. Symptoms include kidney stones, calcification of the eyes, endocrine glands, pineal gland, ovaries, pancreas and kidneys, ultimately leading to diabetes and kidney failure.

Some symptoms of Boron deficiency are brittle bones, carpal tunnel syndrome, hormonal imbalance, and hyperthyroidism, loss of libido, memory loss, muscle pain, osteoporosis, receding gums, degenerative joint disease and weak joint cartilage. Other symptoms may include cancer, arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis, spondylitis, gout, lupus, psoriasis, scleroderma, cataracts, pyorrhea and tooth decay.

Boron compounds have anti-tumor properties and have successfully been used in cancer therapy. A German cancer researcher, Dr. Paul-Gerhard Seeger, discovered that cancer commonly starts with the deterioration of cell membranes due to lack of Boron and since Boron deficiency is widespread, this could be an important cause for virtually an epidemic of tumors and cancer. Boron compounds are also anti-osteoporotic, anti-inflammatory, hypolipemic, anti-coagulant and anti-neoplastic agents.
Calcium blood levels generally increase with advancing age due to decreased levels of Magnesium and Boron and when intracellular Calcium gets too high, cells will die, which eventually can lead to the death of entire organs, like the pancreas or kidneys for example.

Bone analysis has shown that arthritic bones and joints have only half the Boron content of healthy joints. Equally demonstrated was the lack of synovial fluid that lubricates joints and provides nutrients to the cartilage when Boron is deficient.

Boron deficiency may be the most important factor in causing arthritis, osteoporosis and tooth decay today. Arthritis in its various forms affects a large percentage of the population in developed countries.

Osteoporosis is responsible for more long-term hospital care than any other individual disease, due to the very high incidence of fractures, and especially the protracted nature of hip fractures.
Supplementing with the right kind of Boron has shown to reduce the daily loss of Calcium by nearly 50%.

Calcium-Magnesium Metabolism
There is antagonism as well as cooperation between Calcium and Magnesium. About half of the total body Magnesium is found in bones and the other half inside the cells of tissues and organs. Only 1% is in the blood, and the kidneys try to keep these levels constant by excreting more or less with the urine.

In contrast, 99% of the body’s Calcium is in bones, and the rest in the fluid outside of the cells. Muscles contract when Calcium moves into the cells, and they relax when Calcium is again pumped out and Magnesium moves in. This cellular pump requires a lot of energy and when the cells are low in energy, then Calcium may accumulate inside of the cells.

Low cellular energy may also be due to Candida, faulty sugar or fat metabolism, Magnesium and Boron deficiencies and the accumulation of metabolic wastes and toxins inside of the cells.
This then leads to only partial relaxation of the muscles, which have a tendency to stiffness and cramping, accompanied by poor blood and lymph circulation. These problems increase in magnitude as Calcium continues to be removed from the bones and teeth and is deposited into the softer tissues. Calcium can also accumulate in nerve cells, leading to faulty nerve transmission and in the lens of the eyes causing cataracts.

Hormonal output is reduced as endocrine glands increasingly calcify and virtually all of the cells become handicapped in their normal functions with too much Calcium. In addition, this condition causes intracellular Magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is needed to activate countless enzymes and a deficiency leads to inefficient and blocked energy production.

A further problem is that excess Calcium damages the cell membrane and makes it difficult for nutrients to move in and wastes to move out. When the intracellular Calcium level gets too high the cell will die.

Here we can see the importance of Boron as a regulator of cell membrane functions, especially in regard to movements of Calcium and Magnesium. With Boron deficiency, too much Calcium moves into the cell, and prevents Magnesium from moving in to displace it even when ample Magnesium is available. These symptoms tend to increase with age as Boron levels decrease.

The medical establishment has long recommended a Calcium – Magnesium ratio of 2:1. While in good health and especially in younger years, this does not appear to pose a problem, but with increasing age and Boron deficiency, we cannot tolerate this much Calcium. At the same time we need more Magnesium.

I regard the medical focus on a high Calcium intake as a prescription for accelerated aging and I am doubtful whether Calcium supplements are needed or beneficial, even in cases of osteoporosis. In my view these individuals have plenty of Calcium stored in soft tissues where it does not belong, and by supplementing with the right isoforms of Boron and Magnesium, this misplaced Calcium can be redeposited into the bones.

For Boron to be fully effective in reversing tissue calcification, it too must be in the right isoform. FreeMart DCal is the Boron supplement that I recommend.

At the same time, an ample supply of the right kind of Magnesium is required. For elderly individuals I recommend 100 mg of FreeMart PureMag, which is a “highly-absorbable” Magnesium which can travel to all parts of the body, including crossing the blood brain barrier.

Many Magnesium supplements cause a laxative effect and depending upon the isoform of the Magnesium, they may do more harm than good. When taking other than FreeMart PureMag, you will likely require a minimum of 400-600 mg. That is why I recommend FreeMart Magnesium for both oral and topical applications.

FreeMart PureMag should be taken together with the daily Boron supplementation spaced out during the day, and with protracted joint problems additional PureMag can be applied topically.
Boron also works synergistically with Copper and therefore FreeMart PureCopper should be consumed on a regular basis in order to receive the full effect of taking Boron.

ARTHRITIS AND BORON
Knowing that Boron aids Calcium metabolism in plants, research scientists did a double-blind trial in the mid 1980’s at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Seventy percent (70%) of arthritis patients who were given oral supplementation with Boron were greatly improved at the end of the trial. There were zero negative side-effects reported and some participants reported that their heart ailments as well as their health in general had noticeably improved along with having more energy.

SUPPLEMENTING WITH BORON
It has been estimated that 55% of Americans over the age of 50 have osteoporosis and of these approximately 80% are women. Worldwide 1 in 3 women and 1 in 12 men over the age of 50 have osteoporosis, and this is responsible for millions of fractures each year. In scientific studies Rats with osteoporosis were given a Boron supplement for 30 days with the result that their bone quality was then comparable with that of the healthy control group and of a group supplemented with estradiol.
Research has shown that after Boron supplementation an individual’s bones were much harder and stronger. With additional Boron, bone fractures healed in both man and animal in half the normal time. Horses and dogs with broken legs, and even a broken pelvis, fully recovered. A young girl, aged 9 months, with juvenile arthritis was supplemented with Boron and within 2 weeks no longer showed any symptoms. Arthritic pain, swelling and stiffness is often reduced in as little as 1 to 3 months.

The beneficial effect of Boron on bones seems to be due to two interrelated effects: a higher Boron content of the bones which makes them harder, and a normalization of sex hormones which stimulates the growth of new bone. Low estrogen levels after menopause are thought to be the main reason why so many older women develop osteoporosis. In men testosterone levels decline more gradually which seems to be reflected in their later onset of osteoporosis as a group.

Research has now shown that Boron supplementation in postmenopausal women doubles the blood level of the most active form of estrogen, 17-beta estradiol, to the level found in much younger women. Equally, the blood levels of testosterone more than doubled.

Boron appears to BALANCE the levels of sex hormones. In comparison with Conventional Synthetic Hormone Replacement Therapy, there is a higher risk of breast or endometrial cancer which is NOT known to happen with natural hormones produced by the body as a result of Boron supplementation.
Breast cancer is related to calcifications in the breast. Tests have shown that it is important to normalize the Calcium-Magnesium metabolism and cellular membrane functions within the body in order to reduce the risks of breast cancer.

A recent study in younger men between the ages of 29 and 50 showed that the level of free testosterone (the form that matters most) had risen by one third after a daily supplementation with Boron for one week.

This may be of special interest for bodybuilders. Research with Boron has shown that elevated testosterone levels are beneficial by shrinking prostate tumors and PSA levels, PSA being a marker for tumors and inflammation in the prostate gland.

Significantly improved memory and cognition in both sexes of elderly individuals may be partly due to increased levels of sex hormones and to improved membrane functions of the brain cells.
Arthritis patients who supplemented with Boron commonly experienced a Herxheimer reaction, which is an early aggravation of symptoms with increased pain for a short period of time (you may feel worse before you feel better). It is commonly due to toxins being released by Candida die off. This is considered to be a good sign indicating that the body is healing.

FUNGI AND FLUORIDE
Boron is an excellent fungicide that has been successfully used to treat Candida overgrowth. In normal healthy conditions Candida exists as harmless oval yeast cells. Long chains of elongated cells called pseudohyphae and strongly invasive narrow tube-like filaments called hyphae develop causing damage to the intestinal wall, which leads to inflammation and Leaky Gut Syndrome.
Pseudohyphae and hyphae can be seen in the blood of individuals with cancer and autoimmune diseases. They form tough layers of biofilm, which makes them very hard to kill with antibiotics, which arguably is a basic cause of many modern diseases. This same study shows that Boron inhibits the formation of biofilms and also the transformation of harmless yeast cells into invasive hyphal form.

Boron is also used to remove accumulated fluoride and heavy metals from the body
Fluoride has been linked with causing eczema, celiac disease, affecting thyroid function, causing tooth discoloration in children and adults over long-term exposure. It can also build up in the body causing rheumatoid arthritis and joint pain.
Fluoride causes bones and joints to deteriorate, the pineal gland to calcify and the thyroid gland to become underactive. Boron reacts with fluoride ions to form Boron fluorides which are then excreted in the urine.

It takes time to redistribute long-standing severe calcification buildup with Boron supplementation. Increased Calcium levels in affected areas such as the hips and shoulders may cause problems for a considerable time, such as a tendency to severe cramping and pain, or problems with the blood circulation, or nerve transmission. Higher amounts of Calcium and fluoride passing through the kidneys may cause temporary kidney pain. Kidney pain in this instance appears to be mainly due to kidney stones being released, after a few days when the stones are cleared the pain usually stops.
These Herxheimer reactions can be minimized by increasing Boron levels gradually
Whenever you experience an unpleasant effect, reduce or temporarily stop DCal intake until the problem subsides, then gradually start increasing intake again.

Helpful additional measures are a greatly increased fluid intake, including FreeMart Happy Water along with more organic acids such as lemon juice or vinegar, and improving lymph flow with rebounding, walking or inverted positions.

HOW MUCH BORON TO USE
Here is where it clearly becomes a matter of personal choice. Boron is generally safe for all classes of persons including pregnant and nursing mothers. I recommend starting with the recommended dosage of 40 drops of FreeMart DCal per day for adults. Experiment with different amounts until you find your own level. If you have any questions, you can consult with your physician, but don’t expect him or her to have much knowledge on the subject.

Signs of taking too much Boron are not being hungry, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, dermatitis and diarrhea. It is unlikely that you will experience any of these symptoms by taking the recommended dosage of FreeMart DCal, but just in case, simply stop taking it for a day or two and all of these symptoms will go away. If for any reason you were to experience any of these symptoms, the antidote for Boron toxicity is to consume extra B2.

• This should not be a concern with FreeMart DCal Boron since Ionic Liquid Minerals are 98% absorbable, being 7000 times smaller than red blood cells.

• Ionic Boron does not build up in the body, it never reaches toxic levels. Therefore feel free to find the amount that works best for you.

Forty (40) drops of FreeMart DCal supplies 9 mg of highly absorbable Boron. This amount should provide an average adult dose. For therapeutic purposes, 3 daily doses of 40 drops can be taken until desired results are achieved.

For best results separate taking FreeMart DCal and FreeMart PureCopper by one-half hour.

Review: Instant Squeeze Page Generator

Instant Squeeze Page Generator is a service offered by Robert Puddy (known for various Internet marketing tools and services).

The service helps you create squeeze pages using a simple point and click system. It also gives you access to multiple templates and professionally designed graphics to help get you more opt-ins subscribers.

Detailed Overview...

One of the best ways to convert prospects into customers is email. Rather than try to sell them a product or service right off the bat, email allows you to build a relationship with your prospects and educate them on the benefits of what you are selling.

Because of this, many marketers are using squeeze pages to follow up with their prospects. If you don't know what a squeeze page is, it is basically a landing page in which the only goal and function is to get people to sign up to your email list or autoresponder sequence.

The Instant Squeeze Page Generator helps you create high quality squeeze pages without spending time with HTML or hiring somebody to do it for you. This tool is also great for those who do not have web hosting. You can use the service to host your squeeze page rather than put it on your own account.

The one thing you do need is an autoresponder/email marketing service such as Aweber or GetResponse. You will have to grab the autoresponder code and place it on the page so when visitors fill out the form they are added to your email database for later contact.

I found the Instant Squeeze Page Generator very straightforward and easy to use. You start out by choosing a template, using a background image, creating the headline, writing the main content, and finish it off by adding the code. You also have the option of adding a free bonus provided by the service.

There are a few bonuses you can choose from. The ebook cover and ebook download (PLR Internet marketing books) is provided by the service to help you entice visitors to sign up. And don't worry about uploading the ebook as it is hosted on their site.

Reputation...

In final, Instant Squeeze Page Generator is a really handy tool for people who don't have the time or money to build their own squeeze page or hire somebody to do it. The service walks you through every step of the process without any issues. Just point and click all the templates, graphics, etc. to customize your own squeeze page.

The service does provide an upgrade where you get access to more giveaway bonuses and some of Robert's other products. It's up to you whether you want to upgrade to the one-time-offer, but many customers who have bought it have stated that the upgrade was valuable and worth the investment.

Domain "Whois"...

The Whois information for a website lists the owner and their contact information. The Whois information for "Instant Squeeze Page Generator" is public which is generally a good thing. This indicates the owner of this site has nothing to hide.

Is Diabetes Linked To Nutrition?

Perhaps no other disease is as closely linked to nutrition as diabetes. Not only does nutrition play a role in its development, nutrition is also one of the disease’s most powerful treatments.1 Because of this strong and critical connection to nutrition, researchers have carefully studied the use of nutritional supplements in the treatment of the disease. They found that many vitamins, such as vitamin C and the B vitamins, minerals such as chromium, as well as herbs like Gymnema sylvestre, can safely, effectively, and naturally lower blood sugars and help prevent diabetic complications. What is even more important, however, is that these vitamins, minerals, and herbs can be combined together in a scientifically validated diabetic formula to work synergistically.

People with type 1 diabetes must be treated with insulin in order to stay alive.

If uncontrolled for many years, diabetes mellitus can lead to more serious health problems:

1. Blood vessel damage within the eye (retinopathy). This can lead to blindness.

2. Kidney disease (nephropathy) or kidney failure.

3. Nerve damage (neuropathy) especially of the hands and feet, causing tingling, numbness and weakness.

4. Narrowing of the blood vessels due to fatty deposits (atherosclerosis). This increases the risk of heart attack, stroke and poor blood flow in the legs.

Uncontrolled gestational diabetes can result in a large baby and a difficult birth. It can also increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life.

Diabetes - Circulation problems

High blood sugar damages blood vessels. When high levels of sugar are continuously in the blood, the blood vessels become thicker and less flexible, causing poor circulation. Poor circulation can impair healing, especially on the feet and lower legs. High blood sugar also causes higher levels of fat in the bloodstream. The fat clogs and narrows the blood vessels. Partial blockages deprive the heart of some necessary nutrients. A complete blockage can result in a heart attack, heart pain (called angina), or stroke.

Magnesium

Although the relationship between magnesium and diabetes has been studied for decades, it is not yet fully understood. Studies suggest that a deficiency in magnesium may worsen the blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes. Scientists believe that a deficiency of magnesium interrupts insulin secretion in the pancreas and increases insulin resistance in the body's tissues. Evidence suggests that a deficiency of magnesium may contribute to certain diabetes complications.

Keith Jones

How To Stop Diabetes From Stealing Your Vision!

In the past, diabetes was never such a big epidemic like it is today. People often thought of diabetes as simply a body condition where one must reduce one’s sugar and fat intake. Little did people know that diabetes could end up causing blindness!

Now that diabetes is reaching epidemic levels in most of the western world, this problem is becoming more and more serious. Vision is one of our most critical senses and in this "need for speed" information era, over 70% of our sensory information comes through our eyes. According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, diabetics are 25 times more likely to lose vision than those who are not diabetic.

With diabetes already being the number one cause of blindness in the United States, it's no wonder eye care professionals are predicting a devastating increase in vision loss as the diabetic epidemic grows alarmingly.

People newly diagnosed with diabetes often have nothing more than minor vision fluctuations which settle when blood sugar levels improve with treatment. Early on it's easy to believe everything is fine. After some years though, continuing high blood sugar can gradually damage the blood vessels at the back of the eye in the retina. This causes a problem called diabetic retinopathy and the longer you have diabetes the more likely you are to have retinopathy. The risk increases further when there is poor control of blood sugar levels. More than 70% of diabetics develop some changes in their eyes within 15 years of diagnosis.

Now, what exactly is retinopathy? There are 2 types of retinopathy. Retinopathy is graded as Non-proliferative or Proliferative. Non-proliferative retinopathy is the common milder form, where small retinal blood vessels break and leak. There may be some mild retinal swelling but it rarely requires treatment unless it causes hazy central vision or straight lines appear bent.

On the other hand, proliferative retinopathy is the less common, but more serious form where new blood vessels grow abnormally within the retina. If these vessel scar or bleed they can lead to potentially serious vision loss including blindness. Early laser treatment can seal leaking vessels and slow the progress of diabetic retinopathy, but can't reverse existing vision loss.

Although there is no real cure or method to eliminate the risk of diabetic eye damage, you can do two important things to help prevent the more serious complications. The critical first step is making sure you stabilize and control your blood sugar with a healthy diet and regular exercise. The second step is to make sure you have a yearly diabetic eye examination.

Diabetes is a disease that mostly affects blood vessels and in it's extreme forms can lead to serious heart disease, stroke and kidney damage. Clearly these life threatening diabetic vascular diseases deserve priority attention, but high on the critical list for diabetics is the risk of serious eye disease and loss of vision. Make sure you check up with a qualified doctor to prevent diabetes-related eye problems! An experienced eye care professional can pick up subtle diabetic eye changes long before you notice any vision change, and more importantly, early enough to do some good.

If you suspect that you or a close one has diabetes – or if diabetes is already present – now is the time to seek a doctor for a detailed eye check up before it’s too late! Don’t let diabetes claim another person’s vision!

We live in a world where scientists believe they are smarter than God. Most of the food that is grown today is from genetically modified (GMO) seed and is grown inorganically using chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides.

Meat, dairy products and eggs are full of hormones and vaccines. In fact there are very few foods today that are fit for human consumption.

This is evidenced by the fact that four out of five people have symptoms of pain and disease and are on some form of medication. Sixty percent of the population is moderately to grossly overweight. Cancer, Diabetes and Heart Disease are out of control and most people are still unaware that disease is not caused by a drug deficiency.

"All" diseases have an underlying mineral deficiency and if you want to be healthy, you must start looking outside of your diet for vital nutrients that are essential to maintaining good health, because even organically grown foods are grown on soils that have long been depleted of most of the minerals.

Weight Loss Recipe: Avocado Walnut & Crispy Bacon Salad

Losing weight doesn't have to be boring when you focus on bright, colourful meals. What does this mean? Simply by making sure your plate reflects a range of colours, you'll naturally create more balanced and healthful menus. Not everyone has the time or the patience to count calories, but assessing the colours on your plate is something anyone can do - and it only takes an instant!

Why is colour important? Many fatty and caloric foods, such as dairy products and startchy carbs, are beige or brown. When there are too many of these drab colours on your plate, weight gain is almost certain.

That's because these beige foods often are high in calories and can leave you feeling hungry later. A cup of beige or brown beans can be over 200 calories....but a cup of red or green vegetables is under a hundred! Add fresh greens, deep purple-reds and bright yellow-orange to a meal, and water the nutrient content go up, while calories go down! Plus, you'll get more enjoyment from eating when there's a variety of colours and flavors on your plate.

Although these ideas may sound whimsical, they're grounded in scientific fact. Dr David Heber, renowned nutritional expert from University of California, Los Angeles established the role of colour in his book, "What Color is Your Diet?" So, next time you visit the refrigerator, think colorfully. And remember to mix, not match!

To get you started on the color plate, here is a deliciously interesting salad: Avocado, Walnut & Crispy Bacon.

3 ripe Roma (egg) tomatoes, diced

Whip Up an Easy Dinner

For a hurry-up evening meal, it's hard to find a food that's faster to fix than eggs. Making dinner in a
flash is especially easy when you put a skillet scramble on the menu. To make one, simply cook up your family's favorite flavoring foods, then pour on eggs and scramble. In Stir-Fry Shrimp Scramble, green onions, garlic and ginger add Asian flair to egg-enrobed shrimp dotted with pea pods and water chestnuts. Interesting contrasts are the highlight of the dish's appeal. The texture contrasts of the crunchy pea pods and water chestnuts and softer scrambled eggs and shrimp are enhanced by the contrasting colors and flavors of the ingredients, too. Making this special dish more economical, the eggs stretch the protein of the more expensive shrimp. Along with their high-quality protein, nutrient-dense eggs also provide an assortment of other essential nutrients, all for a relatively low calorie count. Stir-frying itself is a cooking method that requires little fat. For this scramble, you need only one tablespoon of oil to cook enough food for a family. The end result is a dish supplying needed nutrients without a lot of calories. In addition to good nutrition and speedy preparation, clean-up is quick, too, because stir-frying requires only one pan. Stir-Fry Shrimp Scramble 4 to 6 servings 1 tablespoon cooking oil 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1 package (8 oz.) frozen pea pods, thawed 4 ounces medium to large fresh or frozen raw shrimp 1 can (8 oz.) sliced water chestnuts, drained 1/4 cup chopped green onions with tops 6 eggs 1/2 teaspoon salt, optional Green onion fan, optional In 10-inch omelet pan or skillet over medium-high heat, cook garlic and ginger in hot oil until garlic is lightly browned, about 1 to 2 minutes. Add pea pods, shrimp, water chestnuts and onions. Cook, stirring occasionally, until shrimp turns pink, about 5 to 6 minutes. Beat together eggs and salt, if desired, until blended. Pour over vegetables and shrimp. With pancake turner, gently lift and turn mixture until eggs are thickened and no visible liquid egg remains. Garnish with onion fan, if desired. Nutrition information per serving of 1/6 recipe using corn oil and fresh shrimp without optional salt and onion garnish: 145 calories, 8 gm total fat, 241 mg cholesterol, 96 mg sodium, 186 mg potassium, 7 gm carbohydrate, 12 gm protein and 10% or more of the RDI for vitamins B12 and C, riboflavin, iron, phosphorus.

How is Diabetes Managed?

Before the discovery of insulin in 1921, everyone with type 1 diabetes died within a few years after diagnosis. Although insulin is not considered a cure, its discovery was the first major breakthrough in diabetes treatment. Today, healthy eating, physical activity, and taking insulin are the basic therapies for type 1 diabetes. The amount of insulin must be balanced with food intake and daily activities. Blood glucose levels must be closely monitored through frequent blood glucose checking. People with diabetes also monitor blood glucose levels several times a year with a laboratory test called the A1C. Results of the A1C test reflect average blood glucose over a 2- to 3-month period. Healthy eating, physical activity, and blood glucose testing are the basic management tools for type 2 diabetes. In addition, many people with type 2 diabetes require oral medication, insulin, or both to control their blood glucose levels. Adults with diabetes are at high risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). In fact, at least 65 percent of those with diabetes die from heart disease or stroke. Managing diabetes is more than keeping blood glucose levels under control--it is also important to manage blood pressure and cholesterol levels through healthy eating, physical activity, and use of medications (if needed). By doing so, those with diabetes can lower their risk. Aspirin therapy, if recommended by the health care team, and smoking cessation can also help lower risk. People with diabetes must take responsibility for their day-to-day care. Much of the daily care involves keeping blood glucose levels from going too low or too high. When blood glucose levels drop too low--a condition known as hypoglycemia--a person can become nervous, shaky, and confused. Judgment can be impaired, and if blood glucose falls too low, fainting can occur. A person can also become ill if blood glucose levels rise too high, a condition known as hyperglycemia. People with diabetes should see a health care provider who will help them learn to manage their diabetes and who will monitor their diabetes control. Most people with diabetes get care from primary care physicians--internists, family practice doctors, or pediatricians. Often, having a team of providers can improve diabetes care. A team can include: - a primary care provider such as an internist, a family practice doctor, or a pediatrician - an endocrinologist (a specialist in diabetes care) - a dietitian, a nurse, and other health care providers who are certified diabetes educators--experts in providing information about managing diabetes - a podiatrist (for foot care) - an ophthalmologist or an optometrist (for eye care) and other health care providers, such as cardiologists and other specialists. In addition, the team for a pregnant woman with type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes should include an obstetrician who specializes in caring for women with diabetes. The team can also include a pediatrician or a neonatologist with experience taking care of babies born to women with diabetes. The goal of diabetes management is to keep levels of blood glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol as close to the normal range as safely possible. A major study, the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT), sponsored by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), showed that keeping blood glucose levels close to normal reduces the risk of developing major complications of type 1 diabetes. This 10-year study, completed in 1993, included 1,441 people with type 1 diabetes. The study compared the effect of two treatment approaches--intensive management and standard management--on the development and progression of eye, kidney, nerve, and cardiovascular complications of diabetes. Intensive treatment aimed to keep A1C levels as close to normal (6 percent) as possible. Researchers found that study participants who maintained lower levels of blood glucose through intensive management had significantly lower rates of these complications. More recently, a follow-up study of DCCT participants showed that the ability of intensive control to lower the complications of diabetes has persisted more than 10 years after the trial ended. The United Kingdom Prospective Diabetes Study, a European study completed in 1998, showed that intensive control of blood glucose and blood pressure reduced the risk of blindness, kidney disease, stroke, and heart attack in people with type 2 diabetes.
